And, of course, we can't forget the treasure map made by Uncle William!
Using the map (which apparently was being carried by someone else at this point, but they followed it for a few minutes, I swear), the kids followed the trail through the field...
Until they found...THE TREASURE CHEST!!!!!
And, boy, was it filled with some loot!
And, not only did the pirate leave treasures for the kids, but he also left treasures for the adults (i.e., food and wine!). So, we all had a picnic and dined on probably the largest (yet quite handy) tarp I've ever seen.
Oh, and in case you are wondering who this woman is with Lexi...It's Granny Jane!!!!! William's mom who flew all of the way from Scotland to join us for the week. Granny Jane may just be the world's most perfect guest. So easy going, so open-minded (as you clearly have to be with the E clan!), and GREAT with all of the kids. They (and we) loved having her around all week.
And, of course a picnic isn't a picnic without bubbles...
Charlotte was getting a kick out of blowing them in Aunt Whitney's face. Aunt Whitney wasn't getting quite the kick out of it based on the look on my face in this picture...
Then, after one last game of Piggie Toes with Grandma, it was time to take Rosie back to the house...
If there ever was a successful treasure hunt to be had? This was it! Good job, Grandma! Definitely a day that everyone will remember.
